Measures 3.5" high. The original "Tin Cow... from the Wizard of OX" consists of three gallons of automotive fiberglass-putty on the legs, to stick them out from the main body, to make them seem like robot-legs. Hundreds of metal screws drilled into hundreds of holes in the cow, four coats of paint... the last using small multi-directional brushstrokes to simulated hammered metal. Said artist Dave Fisher, "It seemed to be a good theme for a KC cow... plus, I just really wanted to do a ROBO-COW! The message is... : I AM NOT A HUMAN! I AM AN ANIMAL!"

Cow Parade Scarecrow Cow from Wizard of OzTitle: Scarecow Location: Kansas City Star Courtyard - 18th & Grand Artist: Jeff A. Tackett Sponsor: Kansas City Star Made of solid resin. Measures 5" high. Jeff Tackett created three cows for the original Wizard of Oz herd, the "Cowardly Lion", the "Scarecow", and the "Udderly Wicked Witch." In order to give his cows an authentic look for these easily recognized icons, he decided they would need to be sculpted, instead of just painted. The Cowardly Lion was the first, in about 3 weeks for use by CowParade for pre-event promotion. The Scarecow was the next to be added to the herd. Jeff was going to stop there but as the cows were being put out, the Witch was given the green light, and manically put together in about three weeks. The mediums for each included things as aluminum mesh, plaster gauze, spray foam insulation, felt, Elmer's glue, and exterior house paint. Jeff feels the Wizard of Oz is the embodiment of a classic fairy tale journey with themes of growth and perseverance. "Throw in the added benefits of hometown iconography, and catchy cow names and I just couldn't pass dressing up three fiberglass cows to look like these great movie characters."

It makes sense then that when she cast about for design ideas for an entry in CowParade Houston she struck on "Gladiator Russell Cow." However, she needed $7,500, the sponsor fee, to get her creation in the parade. She turned to the web site for help. Smith had her design and the request for sponsor funding posted on MaximumCrowe.com. Within three days Crowe fans had contributed more than enough. Over $18,900 had been raised for Texas Children's Hospital. With the very generous donations, the sponsorship amount of $7,500 was reached in just 3 days! The overall total raised in the two weeks of Maximum Crowe's charity drive was $19,000. And the best part is -- Russell himself, decided to match that amount, making the total $39,000!
